What do I get when I order a Marine Kit?

What do I get?

  • If you order the metal kit only, all of the aluminium or steel to build the hull and superstructure including several spare lengths of extrusions for holding panels fair during construction.
  • All of the hull frames, forward curved stringers, hull plating including transom, wheelhouse panels, deck, foredeck and fuel tank/s are pre-cut, powder marked with frame reference marks, and labelled with a code according to the part in question.
  • If you order extras, you will also get the components, complete with installation drawings and diagrams.

How is my kit supplied?

  • All Marine Kits are delivered in a flat pack on a timber palette, covered in plastic to keep out moisture and dust during transport. Each pack is separated by a thin spacer to allow the pack to 'breathe' during transport.
  • All of the pre-cut parts are 'stitch' cut into the aluminium /steel sheets and therefore you also get the 'scrap' material. This is important and useful to you as the builder, during construction.
  • Transport within Australia is usually by road and takes 3-5 days on average from leaving the aluminium factory in Perth. Transport to international destinations can be arranged by us for you.
  • A comprehensive set of drawings showing EVERY frame, plan and profile of the structure and miscellaneous details where required to clarify such construction items as the transom detail. Our drawings are the best in the industry with clear and concise details.
  • A step by step building manual describing the recommended procedure for assembling your hull. What to assemble, in what order and how, are all described in detail with some light humour to make the task more enjoyable. A building jig drawing is sent to you when your order is placed, so that you can immediately commence your jig building so that you are ready to start assembling frames and standing them on the building jig, the day your kit arrives.
  • Telephone support in case you get stuck or want to cross check a measurement during construction. The office at Gavin Mair Marine Design, in Henderson W.A., is manned by staff who are fully versed in Marine Kits, always ready to provide information to help keep your project running smoothly.
  • A high quality package which is insured during transit.
  • A proven, professionally designed aluminium boat. Gavin Mair Marine Design has over 100 aluminium boats operating throughout Australia AND overseas.

I want the finished boat!

  • Ok! We will arrange the complete kit and assemble it at any one of our highly recognized commercial yards.
